Prayers 10 March 2013

let us pray …

Heavenly Father,
you promised through your Son
to hear the prayers
of those who ask in faith:

In this holy & penitential season of Lent,
we pray that your Church
will be a mother to all your children
and lead them to new life in your Son
 & eternal life with you.
Lord in your mercy:
hear our prayer

In this holy & penitential season of Lent,
as a mother ensures that all her children are fed,
we pray that we will ensure
that all our brothers and sisters
receive their share
of what you provide
Lord in your mercy: hear our prayer

In this holy & penitential season of Lent,
as a mother makes the home
a place of peace & safety,
we ask that we may also make our communities
places of peace & safety for all.
Lord in your mercy: hear our prayer

In this holy & penitential season of Lent
we give thanks for all those
who lovingly guide your children
in the way you have given us in this life;
we pray for Michael, our Bishop;
all clergy, readers, and others in ministry,
whatever form it takes;
and we pray that this time
will guide us towards ever greater unity
with our brothers and sisters in Christ
from whom we are separated
by the scandal of schism.
Lord in your mercy hear our prayer

In this holy & penitential season of Lent,
we thank you for those who have suffered
the trials of this life
& now enjoy eternal bliss with you
and the saints in heaven,
thinking especially of the mothers of those present
who may have gone to their final reward;
we pray for those who mourn,
those who are unwell, the dying,
and those who care for them;
we pray for those parts of the world
that are denied the peace you desire
for this broken world;
& we remember those who struggle
in their relationships,
with others or with you. Lord in your mercy
hear our prayer

And In this holy & penitential season of Lent
we ask that you hear also
the the prayers of our own hearts,
for ourselves and for those
we know to be in need of our prayers
(pause for silent prayer) Lord in your mercy
hear our prayer

Merciful Father
accept these our prayers
for the sake of your Son
Our Saviour Jesus Christ
Amen.
